Disabled access / accessibility
In relation to the internet, disabled access
or „
accessibility“
means the art of designing websites in such
a way that anyone can use them. We make every
effort to ensure this.
Mouse-free
navigation (using keyboard)
Not everyone wants to or is
able to navigate using a mouse. If you are
one of these people, this website offers a
number of alternative options:
Tab
key
You will find the tab key immediately to the
left of the letter Q on your keyboard. You
can use it to move from one link to the next.
The menu item currently selected is highlighted.
Simply press the Enter key to go to the desired
page.
Keyboard
shortcuts
Another option for browsing our site is the
use of keyboard shortcuts. Unfortunately,
not all browsers can be operated in the same
way using shortcuts.
If you are using Internet Explorer, press
the Alt key or command key (Apple) together
with your chosen number. To trigger the
desired command, you then have to press
the Enter key.
With Mozilla and Netscape browsers, keyboard
shortcuts can be used to call up a link
straightaway as soon as the Alt key is pressed
together with the relevant number. The same
applies to Firefox up to version 1.5. From
version 2 onwards, you have to press down
Alt, Shift and the relevant number together.
To call up links using keyboard shortcuts
in Opera 7, you firstly have to press Shift+Esc,
then release these keys and press the relevant
function key.

Change
colours
You can change the colour of the text, links
and background. This is an absolute must
for some people. They may find some bright
backgrounds too dazzling, making it difficult
or completely impossible for them to read
the text. The ideal colour combination for
these users would therefore be a dark blue
background with yellow writing.
The steps required to configure your browser
accordingly are explained below for Microsoft
Explorer:
If you wish to change the settings using
only your keyboard (no mouse), follow the
instructions in brackets.
For versions 5, 6 and 7: in the menu bar
click on 'Tools' (Alt+X) and then select
"Internet Options" (O).
On the "General" tab: click on
"Accessibility" (Alt+E). Generally,
there will be no active entry in the window
that opens.
Click on "Ignore colors specified
on webpages" option or on the check
box (F) to activate. To save, click on "OK".
Alternatively, press the tab key until you
get to "OK" and then press "Enter".
You will now be taken back to the "General"
tab. Select the "Colors" button
(Alt+F). This time you will see an active
option. There is a check mark next to "Use
Windows colors". To change the colour
of the background or text, you need to remove
this check mark. To do this, click on the
check box or on the text (Alt+W).
You will see five different colour fields:
Text, Background, Visited, Unvisited and
Hover.
To change the colour of the text, click
on the coloured box next to "Text"
(Alt+T). Then click on the colour of your
choice in the new window (color palette)
using your mouse.
Confirm your choice by clicking on "OK"
or press the tab key until you get to "OK"
and then press "Enter".
To change the colour of the text, click
on the coloured box next to "Background"
(Alt+I). To change the colour of the links
you have visited click on the relevant box
next to "Visited" (Alt+E) and
for the links you have not visited click
on box next to "Unvisited" (Alt+N).
Select the color box next to "Hover"
to change the color in the same way. When
you hover over a link with the mouse, the
hover effect changes its colour.
Don't forget to confirm your chosen colours
by clicking on "OK".
Change
fonts
If you prefer another font to the one being
used, follow the instructions below in Internet
Explorer.
For versions 5, 6 and 7: in the menu bar
click on 'Tools' and then select "Internet
Options". Using the keyboard: (Alt+X),
then (O).
On the "General" tab: click on
the "Fonts" button. Using the
keyboard: (Alt+C).
Select the font you want to use from the
drop-down list by clicking on it or using
the arrow keys.
Click on "OK" to confirm your
selection or press the tab key until you
get to "OK" and then press "Enter".
FIREFOX:
Changing colours, fonts and font size
Firefox contains a number of features aimed
at making the browser and web content accessible
to all users, including those with impaired
vision or no vision at all, or those whose
ability to use a keyboard or mouse is restricted.
This website has been created in accordance
with the current version of the
Web Accessibility Standards (WCAG 1.0) of
the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium).
